Hi all,

I'm just looking for some help on details of Tiger I's the fought in the ardennes.

This is the info I have managed to get so far. Pz.abt 506 was the only unit with Tiger I's that saw combat in the ardennes. 8 Tigers from 'Hummell' were attached to pz.abt 506 before market garden to make up the 4th company which stayed with pz.abt 506 after market garden and were also used in the ardennes.

Its the paint scheme that I need help with. I assume these tigers would have been painted it 3 tone schemes similar to those found on their earlier Tiger II's?

Would they have been whitewashed? Judging by the fact most Tiger II's were not whitewashed would it be safe to assume the Tiger I's wern't?

And lastly, does anyone know what colour the turret numbers would have been?

I know it's a lot of questions but any help would be greatly appreciated.

cheers
Matt

Hi Matt ... from what I have read, they had a few late type tigers as well as some hybrids (early hull and turret but new steel wheels) . The numbers seem to have been painted green with white edges...

Thanks Rick,

I have a Italeri Late tiger which I intend to spruce up so it should do the trick.

Any ideas on the whitewash? I think i'm going to just go with a 3 tone scheme, covered in mud

Cheers
