Hi

If you look on militaryphotos.net under the strictly photos and videos forum, you'll find a huge thread on snipers with plenty of excellent photos. Its usually in the first few pages so you may have to search for it a bit.

If you can get it in India, watch "Enemy at the Gates". Classic sniper battles were between the Germans and the Russians. Russian snipers helped to stall the German advance. Germans snipers helped to slow the Allies advance in the West. Neither were prevalent in North Africa. And, Japanese snipers were hardly effective in slowing the Allied advance in the PTO.

i think it would be a great dio or vignette if you can "capture the essence" of a sniper. whatever way you choose to do it, make it almost impossible to see the sniper.
it is definately something else im going to add to my list of "want to do" now.

That's awfully nice of you Dan. If I were any good at figures, I'd enter myself.

Hey Sudeep, if you can find it in a store or library, a good book is titled Sniper training, techniques and weapons, by Peter Brookesmith. Good write up/photos.

Try searching for the old sniper campaign that was held here about 8 years ago. One of the very first campaigns and was a huge success ... some great ideas there ... it was also done on a $10 budget if I remember correctly. I think Keith Magee was the campaign leader?

sharing few WIP pics of the dio on sniper that am building currently
there will be lot of debris and ruined roof around to conceal the sniper on the first floor. got Verlinden's furniture set and lamp post, will put them up as well and also a cobblestone street outside the ruined building

Hi Sudeep.
Some constructive viewpoints; if your focus is the snipers, the base appears very big IMO. Looking at the images you have posted, it appears that there is a lot of "dead space" in front and behind the figures. Is this necessary for the "story"? If it isnīt, you still have time to change and re-compose your diorama with a smaller base!!

Hi Frank, the more space is intentional...I plan to use lot of debris around to conceal the sniper properly (leaving few gaps to take POV pictures once it finishes). Also I plan to merge this dio with another one which I had built earlier to take some more pictures...a bigger base helps in taking those pictures as there wont be any unwated elements while taking close ups or POV shots...will post pictures once it finishes so that it becomes clear what am trying to do or at least hope so....only time will tell if my plan succeeds...

One more reason for me to use a bigger base...I usually build a custom made glass case for my dios...a smaller base gives problems around that area as the case wil be touching some parts of the model if they extend beyond the boundaries of the base...
