I am working on a monthly newsletter that will initially go out to our entire membership. You will be able to easily opt-out if you'd prefer not getting it and unsubscribes will be handled by the mass mailing service we are using.

My question is, what kinds of items would you like to see in a newsletter. Of course this will mostly be for users who visit the site infequently to catch them up on some of the new events, offerings and features on the site.

Any suggestions?

Jim I would like to see more of what is going on behind the scenes, who is working on what big project. Also user submitted personal info might be nice (so and so got married, had a kid, whatever).

Seriously - a side bar bullet list of what's new in the sections would be great.
Maybe a 'manufacturers' section with input regarding or from a manufacturer.
How about a featured link (either subject or web site) item.
Definitely a whats happening section - shows events etc

i'll second slodders idea, would love to know what the companies are playing with at the moment.
Maybe you could include a run down on the site statistics and possible future ideas from staff and members
