I play the World of Tanks game and have a desire to model all the main tanks I use in my quest for a bigger and better tank. I am at the tier 6 level which for me is a VK 3601. In real life I thnk they made 6 chassis and a berg version. Looking at pix/drawings i think I might use a Panther hull and a early Pnzr 4 turret with a really long barrel (75/70). Anybody got any ideas. I am interested in close not 100% accurate

I would get DML's VK3001 and modify that by adding the side egress door, chopping the fenders, and removing the return rollers as a start.

Here is a article I found of a conversion/scratchbuild as seen in MMIR

Or start with a Tiger I lower hull...it is more similar to that I guess. Mod from there....

Thanks for the info....the vk 3001 kit definitely covers the upper hull and turret. Running gear is close except ther are 4 outers like a panther...so maybe a kitbash there might do it. add sheet styrene to match up whatever. so that is the way i will go using the vk 3001 as a starting kit. Then match up with one of my jagdpanther kits and see how close i can go. Need a long barrel....shouldn't be a problem there with all the metal aftermarket ones out there. Think a Panther 2 looks right, That will cover all of them except the MS1 aka t-18. Just have to find one they were made

The VK3601 lower hull is very similar to that of a Tiger E.
The wheel stations were 5mm further apart, but on a 1/35 model that will add up to 1mm overall, so I guess you can ignore it.
The wheels were the same as the Tiger E wheels, except without the third wheel station on each axle. So, you should be able to modify a set of Tiger wheels to suit.
The tracks would be the 'transport' tracks of the Tiger E, these are available from aftermarket vendors.

Thanks for the Tiger tip. I see what you are talking about. I've got an old Tamiya kit laying around...so that saves me a bit. Just pick up the VK and a long 75mm tube and then it will be time to cut and paste
