My forays into Russian armor have been few and most certainly far between. And they have been painted with MM enamels. Wanting to get away from enamels... What is the green that would be for a T-34/85, model 1944, from the Tamiya range? Or a formula to mix it?

Thanks in advance

This goes back to the classic question of "what color is 4BO Green?". You will get many answers, but it comes down to what you think it should look like. MM Russian Armor Green is incorrect. I believe AK has a set out. IMHO I use Olympia brand Olive Green. It is a little bit more yellow than MM OD. You can get a pint of it from either Home Depot or Lowe's. I don't remember which one I purchased mine at. There are some videos on Youtube(no affiliation) that show some WWII Russian armor being pulled from a river. The are darker and lighter green colors on it. This, I would assume, is from being submerged for 50 years. But, it gives you something to work off of.

Hey marc,

If i ware you i buy Vallejo paint. I have a lot of different paint from different manufactuers. Tamiya, gunze, lifecolor, humbrol...
Tamiya paint is based on alchol. This can cost some difficulties with weathering on a water based paint. Also if you weather with the same paint as you used the base color (this count especially for turpentine based paint) it wil damage your ''underground''. Tamiya has also some quirky delivery to their costumers (the shops)...

If you don't have bought much tamiya paint, sell it to somebody else and buy vallejo paint...

Remco

O, some color advice about 4-bo Green;

- Airbrush- The AK 4-bo-green set. Very nice i use this one for my base.
- Handpaint - Reflective green from vallejo paint comes very close to the 4-bo green basecollor from AK. To make the paint darker use a bit of black and if you want to go lighter use withe paint.

Remco

Thanks for the responses guys.

Matt, you are so right. I should have started with a statemtment about how I NEVER get into the "What's the right color" arguemtns. But I did need at least a starting poiint bedides just "green". Sea foam is a green butthat would have just been wrong And until now I never knew that it was called 4BO Green. I googled that and it took me to some sites that got me all sorted out.
