DUKW - a question

Hi, I'm looking for some advice please! I want to model a DUKW that has sustained damage from driving into a steel anti-tank "hedgehog"..... how thick was the "skin" of the DUKW? Would it easily be punctured by a steel girder? Thanks for any help!

I guess the DUKW skin was rather thin
...
