I want to paint it Nato 3 color, did the US Army deploy them in this version and where? Also, would the RA be painted in the camo scheme or would they be applied after painting and be green (or whatever...)?

Thanks for the help as always

Only USMC used the M60A1 RISE/PASSIVE tanks with reactive armor. US Army never used them.

Marines used 3-color NATO scheme on their M60A1s with reactive armor. I saw photos of 3-color tank with reactive armor boxes being forest green. I don't know if they were ever painted in camouflage or were always left green.

I'm not sure but I think the add on armour seen On US tanks was totaly passive in nature. the only M60s to use reactive armour was the IDF magach series.

We received manuals and mounting instructions for them in 1988-89 in Germany. However, since we were turning in M60A3TTS for M1A1 tanks, we never received the actual hardware nor did we even contemplate mounting the armor. I spent a while looking at the TMs way back when and the tiles were described as ceramic or plastic incased in metal (unsure if it was steel or aluminum) sheets. I believe the correct term for the armor is applique armor. I also remember there being a separate instruction for mounting the armor on 8th Army (2ID tanks in Korea) tanks since they showed an additional loader's machine gun mount.
