Tamiya's 1/16 Super Sherman is a bit of a boon-doggle but at least it provides some crucial parts to simplify a conversion. In my case, I had gone as far as kitbashing a legacy Tamiya Sherman and the Mato M4A1 with a scratch-built barrel, turret extension, and M51 stowage and engine deck. My effort was passable, but as my tank will be full option RC with battle system, I wanted several components to be stock for the inevitable damage and repair.

The new Tamiya Super Sherman offering is really just a new Turret in an old kit. It even has a few problems that are surprising for Tamiya. The front of the turret is two narrow, and there is no new stowage to simulate the Israeli layout. The dust jacket will cover the mantlet but the stowage will have to be brass and plastic.
One nice addition is the French made smoke grenade launchers. I did replace the tubes with brass and made my own caps with workable chain.

Skipped a few steps to put a running tank together for our club tank battle. I painted it with a can of testors SAC bomber tan to give it a temporary finish so I could fight with it. It is a dream to drive but the long barrel is definitely suited to the open desert. In close fighting was a bear!!!
