Hi all, I am new to this community and wanted to get some expert advise. I am currently embarking on my first diorama of considerable proportions. I am building a king tiger of the 503'rd heavy tank battalion in Normandy, France 1944.
The diorama is going to show the Tiger II in heavy camouflage while reequipping after heavy engagement (some weathering with dings and scrapes from enemy rounds and such). The piece of information I am missing is what vehicles were used as support to bring ammunition and fuel to these tank battalions. Maybe a variation of a sdkfz armored halftrak?
Well hope you guys can help me with this last piece of the puzzle so I can start building away.
Cheers.

I think you can do a right dio with some 251 halftrack & sdkfz 11 on an off road situation or add some light / medium truck on a village dio with some fuel & oil cans.

Joaquin ,,Hello and Welcome to Armorama mate , .. ok the question you ask is a good one but easy to answer ...for refueling jerry cans was the most common way they carried fuel and mostly in Opel Blitz trucks but i have seen the Mercedes L4500 trucks used to ... for ammo its a mixture of vehicles ..from the late model wooden cabbed SDKFZ 7 8 ton half track to SDKFZ 251's to Opel trucks ,the way it was late in the war if it moved and could carry anything it was used but be safe in the knowledge that if you choose trucks you'll be sweet but don't forget that the trucks were as heavily camouflaged as the tanks .Allies ruled the air '

After doing a little more research I found that by then the German armored battalions were using what ever support vehicles (even horse drawn carts in some battalions) they could get their hands on, as you mentioned. As luck would have it I found a previous Tamiya 1/32 Hanomag sdkz 251 that I never got around to finishing. So I think I now have everything set to start building.
Thanks for the the excellent advice and I hopefully will start a build log so if I get stuck I can ask for some more advice.
Again, many thanks
Joaquin
