Hi guys, I just started doing the DML Stug III auf A now, have any one of you guys built this one? Any thing I need to watch out for? The kit strikes me to be not so good, with a lot of flashes, etc, etc, and the plastic are so soft.....

FYI, I have the Aber set for this one....

Thanks!

Hi Dave

I have built the DML Stug III B, a very similar kit. It was a treat! A very nice kit and straight forward to build. I added the detail to the fenders after assembling the rest of the kit, and the enclosed PE worked well.

My kit was flash free, with minimal other blemishes. Sorry to hear yours has those problems.

have fun!

Hi Andy, Thanks for the note. I guess I had a bad start with this kit, I bought the modelkasten tracks for it, and in the track set, it encloses 2 white metal wheels, and it's my first time to work with white metal, not surprisingly, I bent the wheels out of shape while trying to glue them together....So I was forced to use back the original wheels from the kit. This might leads me to finally have to restore using the track links from the kit which is something I really hate to do, because I can never get the individual track link works well.

Anyway, thank you, and I guess after just finished my Konigtiger from Tamiya, I need a little time to get readjusted to DML kits....

Today I tried to do the DML individual links, surpngly it turns out alright...Guess should always give something a chance....That should save me some money in always buying modelkasten tracks for DML kits.... :-)

Hi again Dave

I find the DML tracks are pretty easy to work with. Tedious mind you! But once they are all cleaned up, assembly isn't bad. And indy-links do look good. I haven't tried MK yet. I can't see paying more for tracks than the kit cost!!
Are they that much better?

Hello Andy,

I always thought that the individual links from DML is like you glue them then need to work with them rather quickly. But after I tried them last night, it seems that once I clean them, and made long strip of them, I actually have maybe one hour for the glue to finally set, so I have the time I want to wrap them around and make the sag. (Even for a cigaratte break! ) This is really good, so from now, I will only buy Modelkasten Tracks for Tamiya kits...(Can't live with the rubber band) :-)

Aside from the price, Modelkasten tracks are great. They require minimum amount of cleaning. The pin is easy to install and cut, everything is quite detailed. I definitely will recommend them to anyone never tried them before. It worth the money. But now, I overcame my fear for DML Indi Links, DML links are good alternatives too.
