From what I have read, LRDG never used towed guns because of the time restraints in setting them up and knocking them down, as well as restricting manueverability when driving.

At some point someone has got to take possession of the gun and take it to mount it.
How about a dio showing the gun mount being transferred on to the Chevy?

I agree to Nigel to a point, but most captured weapons would have been centralised I think first, check and then re-iuused. Doesn't mean that given the opportunity they wouldn't have hitched one up and brought it back! However, I believe they wouldn't have been used operationally in a towed mode.
There are examples I've read of of units using captured or liberated kit pretty much straight away.
Just my thoughts.
