Hi fellas
Below are some shots of my work in progress for the current Vietnam campaign.
The structures are made from skewers
Manila cards and double sided tapes are used as bases for walls before hemp is applied

@ Tom, Vlad - thanks for the comments guys. It was quite a long process in applying the hemp on top of each other. However I'm quite pleased with the end results. The only thing tha's left is the weathering

Zon - thanks for the comments. I intend to complete the weathering once the vehicles are placed on the base. Currently I am working on the figures, furniture and accessories as well as the animals before moving on to the vegetation.
I aim to finish the diorama before the end of the year

Looking good! Your huts really capture the feel of the environment, and the red earth weathering on both vehicles looks great especially since it is varied between the two.

@ Steven, Jeremy - thanks for the input. It has been quite interesting in accomplashing the task especially when one tried to vary the appearance of the vehicles' conditions. Needless to say I am really pleased with the outcome.
Below are some photos of the figures and the furniture/accessories. The final weathering will be completed once they are placed on the base

Totally agree.Everything looks great.I would maybe add some foilage around the fence area just to bring the jungle feel more into it,just an opinion.
Love the huts and furniture.Nice choice of figures.

Baris, Tom - thanks for the kind remarks. Tom, at the beginning I thought about having more vegetation but due to the concept of a highland scenery (red earth) I've decided to minimise the plant etc. Anyway thanks for the observation

Cool....I like your "old dio". It's nice to see the street scene rather than the normal jungle ones which I'm thinking about diverting away from. By the way, where did you get the hanging baskets from? They seemed to fit in the diorama beautifully

Amazing diorama you've built there. I really dig the weathering on the vehicles. The figures look top notch. How did you make them look so realistic and what brand did you use? I could use some Vietnam tank riders but I'm having trouble finding them

Hi all
Happy 2012
Oliver - thanks for the comment, looking forward to your scratchbuild huts. Please make sure you post them on this tread
Jake - the figures are as follows
M551 Sheridan - the driver is from Verlinden while the tank commander is slightly converted from Academy's Ontos
M113 ACAV - the GIs are Hobby Fan's, the tank commander is Verlinden's and the driver is converted from my spare box
Ground figures - the GI holding the map is converted from my spare box, the tank commander is Barton Miniatures and the GI carrying the child is from Legend Production. The civilians are Verlinden's except for the boy in yellow top which is converted from Masterbox
Regards

Hi Muhammad,
The baskets were bought at a craft store here,Micheals. They have a section with dollhouse accessories and some things can be used in 1/35 scale.

Excellent work, Muhammad!
You did a really good job on the huts, the vehicles, the figures, and the groundwork. I like how you have all of the boxes inside the ACAV. That is a detail that is sometimes missed.
Your diorama has inspired me to do a village scene and hopefully my huts will turn out at least half as well as yours did.
I like the trees that you built. What did you use and how did you make them?
Cheers,
James

Thanks for the kind remarks. The huts are really a product of trial and error...... and a lot of patience. After seeing your diorama in the Vietnam campaign I'm sure that you'll be able to produce something spectacular, especially now that you have the Masterbox Patrolling range in your possession.
With regards to the trees
- the grass is made from hemp which is sprayed in various shades of green and brown
- the coconut trees are made as per Chas Young's and Thanan's tutorials.
- the big tree is constructed with an electrical multicore cable (trunk) with copper cables being used as the roots. Seaform are used for the branches. Once finished they are covered in tree bark paste, and primed in black before being airbrushed in basalt grey and ochre brown. The leaves are Noch's leaf scatter
- the jungle plants and poppy flowers are from Fredericus Rex
Hope the above helps. Looking forward to see your next diorama

Hi Muhammad,
Thanks for asking; indeed I discontinued the VC figures, they were imported from Vietnam but the price got a little steep lately and I just had a limited amount. They were quite nice but with the new Vietnam figures by different companies (BRAVO*6, Evolution, Masterbox etc) figures will not be my main focus. But there’s a great change I will be doing one or two figures that other companies won’t do…(can’t say too much but these will not be ‘normal’ military figures). Just keep an eye out. At this moment I’m busy working on some other new releases (I think an ideal addition to the diorama-market) first one is scheduled next month.
Best regards,
Mark
