The Max/Peerless/Italeri/Zvezda 6pdr is by far the better kit than the old Tamiya one, even though it must be nearly as old. Some parts are rather over scale e.g. the fittings around the wheel hubs (what ever they are?) and the hooks for the hinged lower shield. The kit does represent an earlier version of the gun than Tamiyas (no muzzle brake) so that might pose a problem depending on where & when you want to depict the gun. If you're lucky enough to find an Italeri example you'll also get some items a bonus (ammo boxes, shells, small arms in the shape of a Bren and Sten guns).

The two kits , Zvezda and Tamiya, are very similar - use whichever you can get. Apart from some crude detailing they are both fairly accurate.

Revell of Germany make a 6 pounder. It is included in their Bedford QL Portee w/ 6 Pdr.
It is kit # 1/35 rmg3030. I have this at home but dont have any reference to know whether its good or bad. It shouldnt be hard to get and the bedford looks cool!

The lineage of the Italeri 6 pounder is somewhat protracted, initially released in the early 70's by Peerless Max with the Bedford truck, then released by Airfix again with the Bedford, then by Italeri with and without the Bedford, Italeri have shared the mould with Revell and Zvezda.
It is perceived by many to be superior to the Tamiya kit but as I have not built either I shall reserve judgement. It was certainly very well done considering its age, as were many of the Max kits.
As with many older kits the mould quality deteriorates with time, try to find a Peerless Max or Airfix release, there is less likelihood of flash etc on the plastic.
Happy modelling

For whatever it's worth there are almost always Tamiya 6 pounders available on ebay. What I do is do a search for 1/35 British and usually there are half a dozen listed. I think there is usually a few from the UK.
While we're on the subject of the 6 pounder I was wondering if anybody had a info on converting a 6 pounder to a American 57mm. That's the gun my Dad served on and I'd like to model one. I don't think anybody makes a 1/35 version o.o.b.
