My wife is buying me this kit for Christmas. Monday we were in the Hobby Shop and I got to open the box. I just looked at the instructions for a minute. Looks like a very nice kit which will require a lot of time and patience. Of course, my kit will stay at my friends Hobby Shop till Christmas eve.

Re: Trumpeter K5 (e) railgun-
When you get home with this model and start to look it over -
tag or number each poly-bag as you remove it from the box -
and then put them back in the same order.
The little bitty parts and the guard-rails get hurt if you don't.
There is just sooo much stuff in this box.

The Trumpeter kit as far as the magazine review's say is more detailed and i think more pieces, but the dragon is also a good kit to build. It depends on the price difference also that you ll find both of them, but if you make it and have it as a Christmas present as cfbush 2000 you ll have no concern of the money .
Any way its good to have one of these to make it would be good and looooong time experience and i am also considering getting one of them

Hi. Personally speaking, even though I have the trumpeter kit, I don't think a person could go wrong with either one of them. The really nice thing would be able to buy both of them and do the comaprison yourself. But if, and I really mean IF here, I can get just one done, I will consider myself extremely lucky and I know I will be totally burned out on ever building another one, at least of the K5s. Now a real nice 38 cm gun would be okay, or if they want to go for the ultimate, the 80 cm one, that would do too. Ha!
The Dragon does have fewer pieces than the Trumpeter kit, but these extras are mainly in the trucks (underneath), so the only person who is going to know is the builder themselves and others of us who seem to have gotten a good dose of the 'bigger is better' fever. And the Dragon, I believe, does give figures, where the Trumpter one does not., So you have to pick and chose. One thing though, I wouldn't pay over $100 for the Trumpeter kit. I got mine a couple months ago for $107+ tax here in the U.S. and that's plenty high enough.
Take care, sgirty

Girty:
Indeed the DML comes with figures, 6 of them. They have also released those figures as a seperate set, so I'll be getting more.
Trumpeter is also expected to release a crew sometime in the near future, Armorama regular and Alpha Images owner Vince Wai is doing those figs. They look pretty nice. I plan on combining both with some that are Frankenstein figures from the the various sets.

My wife is buying me this kit for Christmas.
Same here .... well that was the plan until this evening. Came home from work ... tried Stockholms IPMS homepage ...... it has been down for 3 weeks and its up today again. In the buy and sell section a guy had one for sale. Its not available here in sweden yet! He ordered two of them to keep the freight price down. So I rang him up and we will meet on monday evening as hes going away for the weekend. Ive been smiling all evening. I have wanted this kit since I first heard of it!!! Bigger is better!!! Cant wait!
