Hello every on., I need to know if there is a third axle on the M1075 HEMTT PLS?

I found this chassis layout but I don't know if it's right.

Now if the PLS has a third axle, I'll need to know or see photo showing just how it's mounted. An Prime has the PLS but no photo showing what I need.

Can any one here help?

The PLS does have a third axle, the front two and the rear one turn. Not sure how it is any different from the front axles. They cant turn worth KAKA... especially with a trailer and another PLS behind it. The PLS trucks we had in Iraq didnt have those antlers that this one does.. that MIGHT be a bridge laying section. I dont know alot about them, just that they are fast forwards and cant turn very well.

there are 2 typyes of pls t the one you have the pic of the m1075 i think you are getting it confused with the m1120 load handling system, the m1120 is a eight wheel drive truck on the hemett chassis and the pls is a 10 wheel drive truck

Actually, there are two versions of PLSs.

There is the M1075 PLS (Palletized Load System) which is the one pictured, with 10 wheels. The third rear axle is powered and it does steer as well. It is connected with a rear steering gear box and steering arm that runs down the outside of the driver's side of the frame. The third axle is connected with another half leaf spring and bellos, just as it is on a M1070 HETS. You can also look at pics the HETS to see the way it connects.

The M1075 PLS pictured above has the Container Handling Unit (CHU) for picking up connexes on it. That is what the "antlers" are.

The other version is the M1074 PLS, which is the same as the M1075 PLS, but also has a Material Handling Crane (MHC) between the engine and the pallet hook.

The M1120 HEMTT LHS (Load Handling System) is built on a standard 8-wheeled HEMTT. It is not called a PLS. It can not handle as large of a load as the PLS.

For you and anyone else interested I'll have a full walkaround of the vehicle and the concrete mobile mixer on my photobucket site (with a link) by Tuesday. Can't do it now, but walkaround is done.

I worked with the 1074 version alot while in Iraq in 2009-10. Hope these help a little

This one is hauling our FRS (Field Repair Station)

Hope you enjoy! Sorry I didnt get more with the trailers on them, but we did very few daylight runs. Most of the heavy stuff ran on the roads after dark. At least thats what Battalion told us.

Maybe someone will produce a M1074 M1075 PLS, as well as the M1120 LHS.
Maybe while they are at it they can produce a M944A1 "BATMOBILE" moble workshop. Conver or full kit (plastic)

Thank's for the help. I don't think I have bean as specific as I should have bean. Heavy cought on to what I was asking about, when it came to the rear steering mechanism.
Now Brians photos will help when I start work on the concrete mixer module as well as othere modules. SO thank's and I have copyed them all.

18Bravo's link is helpful but I'm going to have to take some time and look through every link to find just what I'm lookinmg for. Love the cab armor plate diogram!

Now to what "Heavy" stated: About the third "rear" axle using a rear steering gear box and steering arm. Good News a friend sent me photo's of just what it looks like an where it's mounted. Truly helpful.

"Heavy" stated: The third axle is connected with another half leaf spring and bellos, just as it is on a M1070 HETS.
I knew some of that as I had a diogram showing it. Thanks "Heavy"

All that info was helpful but seeing that I was not as specific as I should have bean. Here's a quick line drawing or diogram showing the first of the three axles, that I need suspension info on. You guys have help me with the last to axles.

Now I know that this first axle uses two large suspension bars of some type, an airbags( or an air bellows suspension) I just don't know what it look's like. An before any one try's to tell me what it looks like., remember I not in the military.
An Military suspension application differ from civilian applications. ((In a big WAY))!

So I need to see photos', so I can build it right. Like I did on my M1 ABV project.
Thank's for the photos' and the help it's much appreciated.

With Frenchy's TM pics and the one below, you should be set. The suspension is a single traveling arm type. It is connected toward the front with a pivot. Toward the rear is a bellows that supports it.

I knew I could count on you guys, "Frenchy and Heavy" to give the best help possible!!
Heavy your photo and Frenchys links are SPOT on for the information that I needed.
(AXLE NO. 3 AIR SUSPENSION BEAM ASSEMBLY REPAIR)

An now with all those detailed diagrams, I'll be able to fully wire the chassis and cab just right. Work should start in one week. I'm going to scratch build new tire tred patterns on the kit's black tires., first.

I'm going to have the stratch the chassis a bit as well. I'm so glad Italeri Reissued that M977 kit again.

Later guys, I have alot of printing to do.

Edit: I'm adding some info.
In the (LONGITUDINAL TORQUE ROD REPLACEMENT) link there's a full side view diagram. Man now that just what I needed!! Thanks alot guys!!!! "Yeeehaaaw"!
