Thanks Soeren
Looking at this pics, it doesn't seem that kit modelling is in crisis!
Have you noticed that trumpeter T-64 is shown without track links?
I hope they'll make single track links, it would be a pity indeed to have vinyl tracks...
Anyway there's also this...
which could be interesting indeed

Hi Mauro,
Who said that kit modelling is in crisis? I think we are living in a golden age of modeling, did I miss something?
I don't want my favourite hobby is in crisis, I want more and more companies enter in business
Regards

Well, I often read on modeller's magazines about the kit modelling crisis, and i've read that it depends on the fact that younger people prefere playing video games.
There are no newest modeller's generations....but according to these pics, it seems that kit modelling crisis is true just in Europe...(in Italy for sure)
Well, I hope that's no true, of course

Hi, yes I noticed the BTR-50PK... but this kit is available since some weeks. (in my country)
Also I´ve seen, that "Friul" made a track-set for PT-76 and BTR-50 kits.
Yes, I also saw, that the tracks on the T-64 are missing... possibly they have to be reworked.
Also I´ve wondered about the "S-65" tractor, which is NOT that version.
It´s an "Komintern"... using the help of http://www.o5m6.de/RussianTractors.html.
Possibly we will have to talk to Trumpeter to fix that.
Yes, today it´s a great time for model-kits!
greetings...
Soeren
edit:
Also trumpeter plans the S-65 tractor. (No.05538)
So the name and number are correct, but the shown kit has no name yet.
I found the boxart for the S-65 in my image-collection.
So later we will have 3 tractors from bigT: Komintern, Voroshilovez (already released) and S-65)

Scott,
I think that they are doing one of the REALLY early production vehicles with 115 mm gun? Just a thought.

Georg

Trumpeter will do this variant down the road, but at the same time, if they where, don't you think they would be using the turned barrel from the T-62
IIRC the T-64 had the 125mm fitted in 1968 or so, so M1972 model would def have the 125 on it.

Scott,
I didn't see the annotation on the photo. It might be the angle, but the gun does look weird compared to the T-72 below it. Could it be the lack of thermal shroud?
Regards,
Georg

Hmm, to speak about the gun without covering.
As -far as I know-, bigT possibly plans more than 3 different versions of the T-64, also one has the "naked" gun-barrel.
Take a look at http://ipmsphilippines.com/site/thread/trumpeter-1-35-t-64/120.
The three possible versions could be the T-64 mod 1961 with a 115 mm gun without thermal shroud and simplified commander’s cupola, a standard production T-64A with coincidence range finder and Gill armor, and a T-64B as evidenced by the presence of anti radiation cladding for the driver as separate add on pieces. Perhaps, with this kit as a basis, a T-64BV with reactive armor is just around the corner.
greetings...

Well. Having 3 versions would be better than having only 2. (altough i think I'll buy just the A and B versions) and a Trumpeter kit will be far better than a Skif one. The only thing which is still worrying me are the track links
As i've already told before,I REALLY hope they eventually won't make awful vinyl tracks .
If they did, it would be necessary buing Friulmodel, Sector 35 or Masterclub tracks, and the model price will rise up....Considering that I think it won't be a cheap kit, doing a decent T-64 could be a quite expensive game

Aside from the track discussion, I am still concerned about the look of the turret shape. I will withhold judgement until I see the kit, but it just does not look correct so far.
As for the main gun, we will see with that as well. I can definately see Trumpeter doing a "early"-ish T-64 with the 115mm gun, just to do it, since they have the gun on hand already in the T-62 kits. Now to see if they get the details correct on it...
