This is a huge long-shot, but has anyone ever produced a model of one of these fairly obscure Brazilian tanks which they developed late post-war from M3 Stuarts they were supplied in 44-45?

Has anyone attempted to model this as details are very difficult to come by.

Here's a PDF (in Portuguese): http://www.panzermodel.com/Artigos/VALLS%20-%20PROJETOS%20BRASILEIROS%20-%20I%20PARTE.pdf>

It's quite an interesting little family - one that Dragon has missed!!!!

Cheers

Mike,
To my knowledge, no one has made a kit of this beast. This partially because there is very little M3 Stuart left in that thing! It's wider, longer and higher, so very little would be usable as a conversion. I've never seen anything during my visits down in Brasil, either.

Georg

I've always wanted to make on e (or more) of these as they are pretty cool looking little tanks. The one thing I've never found is a reasonable line drawing. If I had that, I would have given it a go, but I've never come across a reasonable drawing. Another thing that has held me back a bit is the lack of the suspension units, but I think I've figured that out. It appears to me that the X1A & X1A1 are no longer using Stuart suspension bogies, but rather, the units off an M4 High Speed Tractor. I've known they were not standard units since the first time I saw an X1A, but only recently I've begun to think that Bernadini swapped out the narrow Stuart suspension for the wider HST suspension in order to give a better ride for their heavier versions.

With the availability of the HobbyBoss M4 HST, this would now be a LOT easier to build.

Hmmm, haven't done a scratchbuild in a while. so if anyone can come up with any line drawings, I might just give this wee bugger a go.

Thomas,
The last picture is of an M-41B. This was a heavily reworked M-41, with a new powerplant (scania diesel IIRC), extra stowage bins on the turret (originally to be modular armor) and a 90mm gun (a bored-out 76mm). A friend of mine in Brasil converted the old Tamiya kit and built a beauty of a model a bunch of years ago. Good luck w/ the X1 project!

Georg

It's a modernized M41 Walker Bulldog from our army.

And this is the Tamoyo, a all brazilian project - only 3 units of this tank has been produced.
