Hi!
This is my first post in the forum,
so hello everyone !
I have a question regarding clearcoat and
what I should use. I' ve just painted my Tiger I
with Tamiya TS spray and now I want to apply a
layer of clearcoat before I weather the model. I
have a spray can with Humbrol gloss varnish for
acrylic paints, but I'm not sure I can use
it over the Tamiya spray? Do you have
any suggestions?
I had also planned to paint the details on the
Tiger with Vallejo acrylics and wondering if
I should do it before or after I put on the
clearcoat?
Thanks for your help!

Well, Tamiya TS spray is a laquer paint, so there wouldn't be any problems applying on it an acrylic varnish because acrilyc and lacquer thinners don't react each other. Teorically you could have some problems only if you did the opposite (so a laquer varnish appled on an acrylic base), because sometime lacquer paints are a little bit "aggressive". Anyway if I were you I'd made some trials on a spare kit before

If you paint your details with Vallejo colors on a well dried surface, you won't have any problems at all

My go to gloss clear coat has been and still is Testors Model Master Glosscoat. It's lacquer based, but I've never had any issues applying it over lacquer based paints. A lite 1st coat, followed by a few heavier coats will result in a smooth, glossy finish.
