Hey, Mauro!
Actually your first photo has a stamped T-44M/T-54 wheel, not T-34.

Ah! Not true. As was stated in the link Mauro provided, that first wheel was specifically made for the T-34 chassis and is different in detail (including width and diameter according what I've read) from those made for the T-54/55. But they are a postwar upgrade.

Mark

(Oops, missed Scott's post re: the wheels but he hits the nail on the head.
My apologies!)

well actually they looks almost the same

T-34 starfish wheel

T-54/55 starfish wheel

If you have some old T-55 wheels from an old Esci kit you can adapt them on a T-34 (trumpeter and Skif wheels are wrong). You should just enlarge the holes.

Alex, its looking really great! You hand paint the white stripe?

Yes, Gary, I used a brush for the white stripe. To paint one with an airbrush would look too unnatural.

Alex, sorry for the off topic I need a little help from you who are a Russian tank expert.

I've been building A Zvezda T-34/85 and as usual i've collected lots of reference pics. In spite that I don't have any pics which can show me in a clear way how exactly was the T-34/85 mod 1944 engine deck . In all the photos which I've found the details which intersted me are covert by the rear of the turret

Would you mind helping me?

Cheers and thanks in advance

Hi, Mauro and thanks for the compliment! But I am not a tank expert, and probably too lazy to ever become one I just have a lot of reference material, and eventually you just start remembering things that have been mentioned already.
I will check later today, and will see what images I have.

Here are the photos of some elements that may be helpful to you.

Here are their locations:

For the the engine deck itself you can just look at SU-100 or SU-85M. They will be identical, since, as far as I know they were build on T-34-85 hull.

Please, let me know, if it doesn't answer your question. I will ask "around".

Thanks a million Alex, that's what I needed to know!
I have also lots of pics about the Su-85 and 100 SPGs so I now I can use them as a reference for my T-34

Many thanks also for the pics

Cheers

So far it just not coming out the way I wanted... Sucks...
(The figure is a mix of Alpine (the head), Tamiya (the torso and right arm) and MiniArt (the left arm).
Not done yet, so need critique, please!
Thanks,
Alex

Wow Alex, it looks outstanding! paint job and weathering are truly excellent.I really like also the figure, i'd like to be able to paint my figures in this convincing way!

I have just a payr of observations. Maybe you have some photographic evidences of it so I would be wrong, but in my humble opinion it would have been quite strange carrying the shells outside the tank. If they had done, a single rifle bullet would have been enough to destroy the entire vehicle.
Furthermore I think you'll have to set in a better way the towing cable.

However, as I told you i really like it a lot

Cheers

I concur. A very well done, beautiful SU-100 but the shells outside the tank like that are not too believable.

But, it's your project and if you like it that way, keep it. I just don't think it ever happened.

Thanks for your comments, guys!
As far as shells, apparently they did carry them like that:

And I took the idea of a cable from here

T-34 with the cable connected the same way.

But maybe I should change that anyway.

As I suspected, you had photographc evidences Alex

Maybe they carried the shells outside because actually the tank was already full of rounds. They took the risk to have some more shots

I didn't imagine that the tow cable could be bent in that way

So, great job Alex. You're going to do a diorama aren't you?

Well, if yes, i can't wait to see it

cheers and congrats
