I was at harbor tool and freight store today and saw an ultrasonic cleaner for $35.00 dollars, so I bought it. I just cleaned my 5 yr old Iwata hp-c airbrush in it, and man did it do a great job!!! Squeaky clean!! I have looking at one in the micromark catalog but they want $89.00 .
Do yourself a favor and get one of these bad boys!!

I've got the $35 Harbor Freight model too, and you're right, it gets crud out of even the cleanest airbrush. You'll wonder why you lived without one, and the price cannot be beat.

I have been thinking of getting one of these...
Question: Do you put solvent in the container and drop the entire brush in it?

I used my with tap water and a bit of windex. I also bought ultrasonic general purpose cleaning powder, which the directions say to add 1/4 teaspoon, but I think it will work fine without.

I fill mine with a dilution of distilled water and Medea airbrush cleaner. I disassemble the airbrush and put all the parts in. I run it through several 3 minute cycles. I only have to do this 3 or 4 times a year depending on my painting schedule.

I use acrylics and fill the tank with windex. I dissassemble the airbrush and run the cleaner two cycles. I then rinse everything with distilled water and run some distilled water through the reassembled airbrush and we are done.

It works great with regular brushes too. Keeps them clean without having to touch the tip.

This was a great post!! Ultrasonic cleaners are even getting affordable here in Europe too, so I am seriously looking at getting one.
