Here is a few pictures of the dio I am currently working on. I admit I have alot of skills still to learn so thought that before I went much further I would ask your opinions so far.
I still have to add the water so I thought this would be a good spot to pause and make any changes I had to.
The scene is this, during a night move the halftrack has been speeding across the field and drove straight into the river. The tank has been sent to pull the halftrack out back onto dry land. The figures in the dio represent the crew of the tank, the crew of the halftrack and the driver who is being questioned. Also there is a goose and there will be two small water fowl and a swimming dog but these will not be added until the water is done.

The discolouration on the right handside bottom of the bridge has been sorted.

Many Thanks

hi, nice idea and story for this dio, the figures are well done and painted, also the river and the organization of the stage are well done, the colour of the tanks looks a little bit...strange, I think you can do a very nice work with a little changes.
1 I think you can put some little stone or something near the river
2 you can do a very nice effect with special glue or resin, but I don't know too much about this
in the end.. nice work
regards

Great concept and great layout. I like the figure placement. The creek bed is coming along well.
If this were my diorama here are some things I would consider.
I am a fan of using the stuff in this article for water.
https://armorama.kitmaker.net//features/150. I've used it a number of times and it has worked great. It shouldn't have any adverse affect on the delicate parts of the ZuFuss (I would test it just in case couldn't hurt).
I might work on the banks a bit and get some rocks showing a bit - or some roots sticking here and there. The bottom is a bit mono tone and in my personal taste a bit on the gray side, I'd prefer browns and greens. I (as you said) would add rocks/pebbles to the bottom.
Caviate - one picture - not live - I would offer you to consider the placement of the ZuFuss. To get a 1/2 track that far across the creek he would have to be going really fast. On a night maneuver they would probably want to reduce speed. With this in mind you may want to consider moving it closer to the 'take off' bank. Things you can consider to accentuate the story - add craters for mortar shells. This would add excitement and confusion to the situation and would justify higher speeds. May be a fallen tree under the water that the ZuFuss has skidded down to get it that far. You ultimately decide and you by all mean make it to please you.
I would though consider where the guys attaching the tow cable to the 1/2 track are going to be - when the water is poured they're going to be waist deep in water. That will be a cool touch if thats what you are going to do.
The ground could use a bit more ruts from both the ZuFuss and Panzer.

I'll end on another great touch - I like the gray wall on the elevated area. I like that you added the attention to a 'non visual' item.
This is going to be great when its done. Keep us posted.

Ahhh... the "great water" discussion, yet once again! But - always a welcome subject.

I use EZ-POUR from Envirotex. it is a fairly inexpensive 2-part clear resin that works wonderfully. Very low heat so it won't hurt your pieces, and because it is a slow watery set, the bubbles will have a chance to escape.

You will find the product easily on the web if you do a search for ENVIROTEX....

OOO nice job :-) I think it would look cooler having the tank pulling it (not being hooked up to it). That way you could do something nifty...like making it look like the grass is getting ripped up from treads pulling on it. Looks really good though, keep it up

Yes I agree the colour of the tank does look a little ....er lobster pink? They don't look like this really , it must havee been the flash on the camera or something. I think I will give them a dark wash anyway.
I did think about putting rocks on the side of the river, but then thought about all the river banks I had been too and you don't really get that many where there is an abundance of rock so I just went with some heavier vegetation along the edge of the bank. I will however be adding some pebbles mixed in the dirt path coming off the bridge.
As for the bank I didn't want to add any roots realy as I don't feel there is any real growth nearby to support roots growing out the bank. The actul colour of the river bed is a choclate brown colour again I can only assume that maybe the flash on the camera was incorrect. I choose this dark colour running into the lighter brown on the bank so that when the water is added it will hopefully add to the image of depth.
The position of the half track I feel would be achievable as the river is going to be quite deep so it may have glided and due to large proportion of the weight being more towards the rear of the vehicle the front of the vehicle would have been in the air before it fell in. Meanig the vehicle might only have had to travel about a metre forward in the water.
yes I will do some more ruts for the halftrack prior to its take off.
The guys in the river will be over waist deep in the water, and the river will be deep enough for my dog to be swimming in.
Thanks for your comments guys
