I have been considering using an after market barrel on a Sherman. What are the advantages to using them?

Best advantages are no seams, no warp-age, more accurate.

12.5 seconds to mate the aluminum barrel to the tank with no seams and a perfectly round profile :-) versus who knows how many hours of sanding to produce a barrel tha has seams and is off round.
Classic no brainer!
