It's been along time since I perched in an M-1 cupola of an M-48A3 in Nam and thought that I was in one of the best Tanks in the world. But I must say that I'm totally blown away by these Abrams tanks and how far they've come!
Since I'm getting the "itch" to build the most modern one used by the US Army in Iraq, any suggestions of which kit would be the best choice?

Dragon's M1A1 AIM (#3535) and M1A2 SEP (#3536) are the best kits on the market and pretty much the latest versions fielded. They are both excellent kits.

My Friend- IMHO there is only one to get. It is the Dragon M1A1 AIm or the M1A2 SEP kits. I have both and they are great. You can also convert the M1A1 AIM kit to an USMC version with new USMC conversion set from Perfect Scale Models. That combined with excellent marking sets from Echelon Fine details and your ready to go. I would aslo get a set of AFV Club T-158 tracks for the M1A1 AIM. The M1A2 comes with Dragon's DS tracks and they are good.
Good luck

Thanks Gino and Joe. I do believe that the M1A2SEP will be the weapon of choice. As far as aftermarket stuff goes, the Echelon set sounds good but since I have the resources here to make stuff, just might go that route. May take alittle longer that way but the molds and stuff will be here in case I want to build more!

Legend and Voyager make lots of detail sets if you want to soup it up into an Army TUSK I or II version too. The PSM USMC conversion will get you an up to date vehicle in Afghanistan.
