Hey guys, looking to get back into modeling after a little hiatus. Im looking to make the SEE but I need a good Unimog to start with in 1/35. Also if there is a conversion then I would love to know about it. Thanks guys for any info that you might have.

Hi Matt,

the SEE is on my build list too. But all I found as a base kit was the old Tamiya
"Big Foot" toy kit in 1/32 scale. And from that, you can only use the cabin. The best change I see is a 1/32 scale die-cast model of the Unimog U900 model and start rebuilding it. Hmmm, if the Unimog would have been used by the Wehrmacht, we had three kits in no time

Just my 2 cents.

Hi Matt,

I found a die-cast model of the Unimog 406/U900 at a German online shop.

Not cheap and made of metal, but the only Unimog game in town.

What about this resin kit if you can find it.....

http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/daswerks/dwm35100.htm

That, or get the one everyone can get and find a way to change out the hood.... that will get you the chassis. For the backhoe portion... you are going to have to do a serious amount of scratchbuilding, but the 1/35th John Deere Backhoe might be a start.'

The Backhoe part is a JCB/Case, so you will have to make some changes, but it might work.... The front bucket, I have no idea... I just know that it was pretty much useless LOL.

What about a S404 as a starting point?

I am unsure about the detail differences (engine is one I think)

How about starting with the 1/32 Tamiya Unimog body. It looks like the right version to me.
