Hi all,
this question goes to US Army and USMC tankers. I noticed the the Bundeswehr
GTK Boxer crews use a new tankers helmet, similar to the US CVC helmet.
Is it possible that the US Army/USMC fielded new or improved CVC helmets, maybe with new headsets?
Thanks for all answers or inputs

I know a few years ago we changed to a Bose sound cancelling headphone system, but they look the same externally.

They look slightly different, the ear pieces are a little larger and not so round as the earlier CVC helmets. The shell is identical though.

When we transitioned to the CVCs with Bose speakers, the microphone also changed. The previous one was kind of a tear drop shape, made of hard plastic. The newer one was smaller and had a foam cover over it. The older speakers had a pad that was made of black vinyl over foam rubber. The newer pads were clear with a nasty goo in them (quite comfortable, until you got a hole in one and then you never quite could get the stuff off). The shells were also thicker on the newer helmets, although the older, thinner shells would still work with the newer liners.

Those silicon ear pads, or as my guys in Korea called them, "the boob pads"... Yup, nasty when they leaked. You normally didn't realize it was leaking until the warm goo was sliding down your neck.
