HI guys, I was in Walmart today and found these palm trees in the Christmas nativity section. They are made of a ceramic type of material and have bendable palm fronds. The best part is that they are only $1.88 each.
Heres a shot of an open one I sat on a dio that I am working on so you could get an idea of how they scale out in 1/35th.
With a little work I think they will be fine Much better than $16.00 for a resin and PE one

I LIKE it! I have also found that Cedar Fronds can be glued to things like this,... they have a more "needled" look, similar to coconut fronds... but for $1.88 each, I have to go get several for my Japanese Beach diorama! Thanks for sharing! Also - go to Michael's AFTER the christmas holidays and you can load up on the LeMax series of wire trees... they have poplar, elm, oak, birch, and many other types - and after the holidays, they are always half-price... meaning $2 to $4 each. I load up each year!

I went to Walmart today and purchased two of these palm trees (NOTE: they are in the christmas nativity section of the store! Took me an hour to locate them!!!).
They also have the LEMAX trees I mentioned above on SALE NOW... $3.23 each... these are WONDERFUL trees for the 1:35 dioramist... I bought several kinds (in fact, $100 worth!)
Shhh.... don't let the wife know!

Stopped by my local Wal-Mart this morning and picked up several of the palm trees. They have two different sizes: a smaller one about six or seven inches tall (the one pictured above) and one about 12 inches high. Both sizes sell for a $1.88 each. Also, they have a product called Large Pebble Road, which is a roll of cobblestone pavement 3.5 inches wide by 30 inches long. Looks perfect for a 1/35 road in WWII Europe and at only $2.50, a cheap alternative to doing it yourself or purchasing more expensive products. Did not notice the Lemax trees, will have to go back for another look!

I always wondered about the Pine/Fir trees but they always seem to be covered in really poor fake snow. I honestly do not recall ever seeing a Palm Tree but I will take a better look. It seems the entire line of "Christmas village stuff" seems to be different. I remember seeing stone walls and footbridge and rowboat dock about three years ago but they have disappeared. Walmart must have changed suppliers. Good find on the Palm Trees though!

My local Walmart dosnt have any thing like that. Is there any other store that might have it? I would really like to find the cobble road that kbm is talking about.

Went back to Walmart and picked up four of the Lemax trees, two with out any leaves and with bendable branches. The other two will have to have the leavesremoved to be usable. Matrix, did you look in the Christmas decoration area, in the two Walmarts I went to in my search for diorama supplies, they had the Christmas stuff in the gardening section of the store. The cobblestone road, as well as a roll of brickroad, were hanging on hooks along with Christmas village figures, streetlights, etc. Walmart also had a cast European looking fountain for $4.32. Almost picked one up but it has small sections of frosted snow on it and wasn't sure if that could be removed or hidden.
