Greetings all...

I have a simple question,...i think.

Im wanting to build a diorama of a Korean war era M26 Pershing moving past a North Korean T-34/85 it had just knocked out, and I need a little info on the T-34 kit.
I have the Tamiya kit, a friend gave me one for free so I thought id use it in my dio.
Anyways, what I want to know is what are the differences between a Russian 34 and a N. Korean 34? Does the Tamiya kit need the enhancements of an aftermarket set?
Any hints or tips that you guys can pass along would be appreciated.

My Pershing is finished..I may post some pics of it if i can get my silly camera to work and stop fighting me.

Thanks all..

Jon

Jon,

The basic Tamiya kit is a good item for the Korean dio idea. My only suggestion would be to focus some attention to the rear deck screens. While the Tamiy kit has some faults (demensionally) if you can, the NVA T-34/85 kit from DML would be cool. But as you have the Tamiya one, build away.

HTH,
Dave

I have that Tamiya kit. Very nice. Build it anyway, forget about that AM stuff. Have fun and keep us posted with pics. I am a little interested to see how she turns out myself.

http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/rikirk69/vwp?.dir=/Drawings+and+stuff.&.dnm=Pershing.jpg&.view=t

Copy and paste this in your browser and it should take you to my photo album...
Im a bit of an idiot in trying to get pics up..so im not bothering with all that code.

The pics should work as i have my albums set on public view, anyway..hope you like

I dont think there would be any difference as the soviets backed the Nth koeran's so would
have given them t-34/85's from their surplus stocks left over from the war

Y' know I just noticed something...

The model never looks the way it does in reality the way it does in a photo...

I may have to give that pershing a bit more drybrushing and/or weathering.

Hey Folks, ...got another question I need help with here..

Whats the best way to represent a knocked out tank? I have Shep Paines books on modeling and he says to show an impact hole and open and blacken the hatches.
Is this the best way to do it or are there more convincing ways?

Would a T-34 explode after getting hit by a Pershing or would it just sit and burn?

Again...any tips?,...Pass em my way.

Thanks

The road wheels are different on the Newer one the starfish is cast I think off hand but they are different. Get yourself some wheels and the Marquette links around $5.00 not bad get the late ones a lot cheaper then Fruil and as it is knocked out who cares. (++) (++)
Adam would know more then most on the subject. (++) (++)

Edit starfish thinking of T/54 t/55
Goosh better wake up slap slap better now!!!

Depends on where the T34 were hit! The 90mm Pershing was a high velocity weapon, and fired a nice AP round. that could penetrate most any tank short of the Maus! If you pierced the front glacis, you probably don't get the "big bang", (although some NVA would be leaving this earthly plane!) but if you got a good penetration on the sponson storage areas then you might well set off some of the 85mm shells.
