Hi all,

I was wondering if there was a way I could apply this pigment without using my fingers and still make the thing shine. I'm trying to use it in the breach block of my ZIS 2 artillery piece but I being that I can only seem to get it to shine nicely when using my index finger (for example), I can't get in there and do this. I tried 'buffing' it with a brush and even that Tamiya pigment applicator sponge but I can't get it to shine as I know it does when I rub the thing on plastic when using my finger..

If any of you have used this pigment before can you provide me with some tips as to how to make this thing shine'?

Thanks much!

Rob

Rob, try buffing it with a piece of nylon stocking. I'm not kidding.
You can also use a Q-Tip or cotton gauze, but the nylon will give you the brightest shine.

Thanks, Matt. I guess I can make some kind of applicator with a piece of nylon stuck to it or something. I've tried a Q-tip but it doesn't actually make the pigment shine. It just moves it around. My real trouble is finding something small enough that I can use to get inside the breech block and buff the pigment 'til it shines. I was hoping I could just use a brush to rub it but that didn't work.

Thanks again,

Rob

And they have many other uses as well.

Also, beauty supply stores sell a product that looks exactly like a Q-Tip but it has a cone shape instead of a bulb. This will enable you to get into some tight spaces. These can be found in packages of 50 - 100 at a price of $4.00

Thanks very much for the tip, Ian! It sounds like something that may actually work. I'll definitely give it a try.
