Hey guys,

This is an experimental build to try for the first time the following:
- Adding Zimmerit
- Using the hairspray method to create a weathered winter whitewash effect

Process followed thus far:
- Added Zimmerit
- Primer
- Three-tone camo scheme (thinned with Arylic thinner)
- Humbrol Satin Cote
- 2 layers of hairspray
- Tamiya Flat White (thinned with water)
- Combination of old toothbrush and paintbrush to remove the white

All comments welcome!!

Looks great. Nice work. The three-tone camo showing through looks good.

Can't wait to see it completed.

Hi Stephen,

To be honest, the white came off harder than I had expected. I found that it comes off easier (in bigger chips as well) if you spray a thicker white coat. I also found that you should 'paint' the water on and let the model stand for few minutes, giving the water time to filter through the white and dissolve the hairspray.

Hope it helps.

Hi guys,

This is what mine looks like so far. Several filters and washes applied, with chipping as well. Honestly, I think it's a bit much, but please all comments are welcome.

Hey guys,

A quick update!

Finished the weathering on the body and turret and mounted the wheels and tracks. Now I just need to blend the weathering on the wheels and tracks and then I'm done!!!

Apologies for the poor quality of the pics, will post better ones once the project is complete.

IMHO it looks like a tank that has seen winter combat, but has since gone on to a different season. I doubt the crew would allow this kind of weathering for survivability issues.

Hi Matt,

This basically started out as a test to try out the hairspray weathering method as well as my first go at doing zimmerit. Then I thought I might as well finish it.

Nice little experiment. I love to see people trying new things and this is pretty good. The weathering may be too dark but overall I think you've gotten the W/W down good. The HS tech I think looks best on dark vehicles, so what you've done with a tri toned tank, and pulled it off, shows some skills. Hats off dude, very nice.

Hey Rob,

Thanks for the kind words. I agree about the weathering that came out a bit dark, but overall happy with the result.

Thanks again!
