Hello
Here's my finished Trumpeter ASU-85 built OOTB.
I added modifyed MiniArt figures with Hornet heads.
Built without any major issues, this little tank has a tough look to it.
Painted with Gunze acrylics and weathered with oil paints.
Kind regards
/Tomas

Hi Tomas, I've seen your posts about your models and i have to congratulate you for the excellent jobs.
Thanks a lot for sharing, I hope you'll post some other of them and I hope you'll show us a work in progress soon.
Which Miniart figure set have you used for the crew?
What about the BMP-3 drivers?
Many thanks again
Cheers

A beautiful build enhanced by a great paint job ! The figures are a great addition too.
I fully agree with Scott about the weathering, it's spot on.

Thanks for your kind words.
Mauro: I used the Miniart 35034 Soviet Tank ammo loading crew as a base, then dry fitted arms from different figures until I found something I liked. The shoulders were filled and sculpted to a snug fit. The heads are from Hornet HRH04 Sovier Post Ware tank crew heads, these are superb I think and are worth their price as the eye naturally are drawn to faces and these are more naturally looking than the MiniArt ones.
The BMP crew are Tank 35066 Modern tank crew in winter uniform. Quite expensive but really nice.
Scott: The log are called unditching log and are placed in front of tracked vehicles to help them pull themselves out of mud when they are bogged down to a state where the tracks doesn't propell the tank forward anymore. I don't know how well it works in practice but all soviet/russian MBTs have been equipped with them since the 50's.
Kind regards

Hi Tomas,
Very nice work! I have a couple of questions. Which color green did you use and which colors did you use to paint and weather the tracks and suspension?

Thanx guys
Brian: I use Gunze 303 for my soviet vehicles, its quite light green but I darken
it with a black post shading and a black/brown oil paint waches.
I usally paint the tracks black for starters, give them a light dust layer to
contrast the following dark contrast washes. The whole supension is given
multiple layers of different oil paints (black, Vandyke brown, burnt unber and
yellow ochre).
The trick is to dare to go over the top with the weathering, the clever thing
about oil paint is that it dries very slowly, if you overdo the weathering you
simply apply some more thinner and remove some/all of the oil paint and
start over.
Kind regards

Tomas- yet more great stuff!! I think your paint finish here is spot on (thanks for explaining it) and the subtle weathering really brings out the strange, angular shape of this afv.
