First of all I want to appologize to anybody who doesn't have a Hobby Lobby near them. I'm sure you all get tired of hearing about their 1/2 sales. I just got back from the larger of the three stores in town and they had a whole slew of new kits from Hobby Craft they hadn't carried before. They were all marked "As Used in Operation Iraqi Freedom." I don't know beans about modern armor but I saw several Abrahms, one labled Leatherneck, a couple of Iraqi tanks, ex Russian I suppose, one Iraqi truck with recoiless rifle, and a British tank. The Leartherneck Abrahms was list price of $18.99 so it would be $9.50 on sale. That's half what the Tamiya Abrahms was going for.
How good is Hobby Craft? Is it worth even $9.50 for a Abrahms?

As I understand it, the hobbycaft abrams is a re-box of the trumpeter abrams. $15 is the going price on a trumpeer abrams so $10 is better. It is not up to the Dragon quality, but has some nice features.

Halfyank,
My Hobby Lobby didn't have diddly. Two weeks ago they had the new Tam Marder and the Tiger 2 Ardennes version. Today, nada...
Crap.
May have to take a trip out of town and see what is around elsewhere.

Thanks for the info...going tomarrow night. 50% off is a good deal, even my wife was in agreement and she hardly ever agrees with me on my "toys" purchases.

I have three hobby lobby stores nearby... great if you want CARS... but the stores in the Dallas area SUCK when it comes to armor... all I ever see are some of the old Tamiya figure kits (basically a blob of plastic wearing boots!) and a few kits like the Walker Bulldog and a few jeeps. YUCK!!!!

Least you have a HobbyLobby! In Pittsburgh, we have ONE decent hobbyshop, all else is crap. Newest addition is Hobbytown, what a joke.

Yopu've gotta love those 1/2 off sales! Last night I found a Tamiya Late Panther G, the Tamiya M26 Tank recovery Vehicle, and the 105 M4A3. All for less than $80. I'm the luckiest boy alive

Hobby Lobby hit my wallet today. I picked up a Hobbycraft Challenger II and a AS-90. Just what I was looking for.

Damn...Hobby lobby had crap for armor here in Lincoln, NE. Did get a Moblewagen but was hoping for a Tiger. They did have a Panther but I already have one. Maybe I'll have to goto the one in Omaha Saturday. Hour drive so they better have something I want.

Doug, don't bother calling ahead and asking them. I did that a few sales ago about the Dragon Wagon and the response was "duh... what's a tank?"
Sorry for you guys who don't have a Hobby Lobby, or yours is no good. I got a Quad and 25 pounder, a Pak 40, a M4 105 Close Support, and another jeep. I was REALLY tempted by the Hobby Craft stuff but the only reviews I've read abut the Trumpeter stuff it is rebadged from tells me I don't think I want it.

Just to beat a dead horse here - IMHO the trumpter has the best m1a1 series of thank going right now . The choice of rubber band tracks or the link and legenth tracks are included . They get most of the details right and they leave the option to expand on the kit with out major surgery - the back deck and the rear grill doors . So a engine from legand or verlindin in the bay would look nice . I took a peak in side a Hobby craft box - same kit as a trumpter m1a1 with more decal options (several tank from OIF ) , so they are at the top of my list as well . The other model makers should take note , cheaper tank with more detail now there is a good idea . Two trumpters for the price of the " other guys tank " - I'm there !
