Hi Gents,
I researching for some future builds from Korea War. Am I right that the Marines used only LVT-3, LVT(A)-5 and LVT-3C? So it means that i can build no Korea LVT out of a box?
TIA

Hi Hans-Hermann
All hope is not lost In fact it seems you can build a LVT(A)4 Amtank....
There's one pictured in this 1993 issue of Armor magazine (on page 11 - according to the caption it's a (A)4 ) :

That said, Italeri's kit may need some work :

Here's another picture showing an Amtank in Inchon :
I guess this one could be a late variant of the (A)4 : no .50 MG on the turret, and apparently no counterweight on the gun tube (which is a (A)5 feature)...
There's a color drawing of a LVT(A)4 called "Rose Mable" in Jim Mesko's Armor in Korea book in the same configuration (no turret MG)
EDIT : I've just gave a closer look to my Korea war pics file and found this :
You can see a (A)4 in the foreground followed by a (A)5. Both are fitted with twin .30 MGs but the counterweight fitted to the (A)5 gun is clearly visible.

Another LVT(A)4 (Late model ) crossing the Han River on September 9, 1950 :
On a side note, it seems that some LVT-4s were still used by the USMC after the Korean War... :

Hi Frenchy,
excellent finds as usual. All I need now is a really good LVT(A)-4, not the Italeri kit. Perhaps i should wait for a possible AFV Club release;-)). But slow down, I still have two Revell GTK Boxer models on my table.
Thanks
Hans-Hermann
