I just bought an old Heller and some eduard update Pe for cheap, and am willing to ad some more details or correct things somewhat

been searching for some good build or tweakslist, and found some , but all where of the tamiya offering.

I plan on those Bronco tracks , if I can find them at a meet, and noticed some problems with the roof, ect

The version I've bought is a mistery to me is it a T5 ?
what are the differences with the current version, are they "scratchable'?
I don't want to buy AM resin things, rather improve myself;)

I've heard the tanks have recently deployed on the borders with Lybia, any more info on that? pics maybe?

any help is welcome

Hi
some answers :
first the tank name is Leclerc anot not LeClerc as often seen.
The T5 kit is the first one ever released by Heller. It depicts an early version. The Leclerc production was done in 11 batches called Tranche hence the T. From T1 to T5, it is the series 1.
From T6 to T8, it is the series 2 (Tamiya model).
From T9 to T11, it is the series XXI.
You can read about some RT5. R stands for retrofitted. These tanks are former T5 upgraded to T6 standard. For these the main external differences with a T5 are some extra armor plates added to the hull sides above the skirts, the basket and the bin on the turret bustle and the mud flap at the very front of the glacis.

I made a tweak list for the Tamiya kit which is a current version. For the very early version depicted by the Heller kit I fear you won't find anything.

On my site, Djiti posted an article about how to backdate the Tamiya kit to a RT5 as deployed to Kosovo. It could be useful for you.

Feel free to check my site, you'll have some reference pictures of the various versions.

If you intend to build it as a current version, so you'll have some extra work on the roof in addition to the mods I already mentioned. The most demanding part to scratchbuild is the air-conditioning unit. The last skirt section requires to be replaced by a new styrene one as the shape has been modified.

Concerning your last question, I've never heard of deploying Leclerc tanks in Lybia.

thanks olivier, i was counting on you to reply, sorry for the misspelling

it must be Leclerc indeed

merci pour les reseignements, and yes I've been to your extensive list of modsn, you surely made work of that one!!

Ok, I understand that I can not build a up to date version of this tank, I'll have to check the deployement in Kosovo and make an according version, could be fun, anyone have some nice links?

untill then I'm quite happy with the 99 other problems (Jay Z...?)
on my shelf

greetz et merci beaucoup pour vos info.
