Just visited Academy's Web Site, where they have officially announced the soon to be released M36 Jackson TD. I believe November is the release date. Can't wait, as this will make a fine addition to mine, and any U.S. Armor fan's collection. AFV Club still has their M36A1 listed as a future release...

Thanks for the info Kencelot I just hope this one has the parts for a WW 2 version From the photos it is a Korean war era version All that is needed is a different front hull plate without the hull mg and a 90mm without the fume extractor and muzzle brake As far as I know that was the only differences #:-) (++)

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh ............. Love them TD's !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I'm going to buy 2 and start looking through my books for a nice authentic TD action photo from the Battle of the Bulge to make into a nice 1/35 diorama.

I too will be getting at least two of these kits. One for an OOB build or perhaps with some PE, and the other one will be stripped of it's turret to make the 90mm prototype "Super Hellcat"! Psyched I is.
GZ, you are correct about this kit needing some backdating to make a WWII vehicle. Just typical Academy.

Looks like another "Head to Head" from Academy and AFV Club. M18, M10, Achilles and now the M36. I love a choice!
But then, I will probably buy at least one of each!

I'm sure someone will come out with the WWII 90MM barrel in aluminum soon... the hull plate won't be too hard to change out to reflect WWII format...

Well, I guess I can throw away those turrets I saved from the old Italeri M36B1 kit!.
Looks like a good starting point for lots of marking possibilities -- seems like this version served all over the world.
One thing bothers me -- it looks like they didn't update the interior. Those ammo tubes are identical to the ones in the M10/Achilles kits. I am pretty sure the tubes for 90mm rounds would be noticably longer.

IT NEVER FAILS!!! NEVER!!!
I've been waiting in vain for this for three years, and finally decided a couple of weeks ago to start a ktibash M36 using the Academy Hull and Italeri turret with scratchbuilt turret interior. I've already modified my kit gun to include the fume extxractor and made a muzzle brake by casting resin copies of the Tamiya Pershing parts and sawing off the front part of it. Looks damn good, too. Just when I give up on having a kit appear and start slicing and dicing the real thing shows up....

I know your pain, Greg. In this case, I guess my procrastination paid off. I guess I'll save my Academy hull and use it with a Formations M4A2 conversion.
