I recently picked up Dragon's reissue of the StuG III Late and was curious if zimmerit would be required on those vehicles? If so, what pattern would be most appropriate? Thanks for any information you can provide.

Late Stug 3's had a "waffle" pattern zimerite. Really late war would for go the zim and add concrete on the upper surfaces of the superstructure. Check out the Squadron Stug III book shows the AFV through its history.

If this is the kit I think it is - don't add zimmerit if you build it as per the instructions. Or, if you want to add zim, don't use the saukopf mantlet or the remote roof machine gun. These features were added after the discontinuation of zim... at least as far as I can remember. If I am incorrect - someone please chime in....

Thanks for the information guys. I mainly build out of the box, so it sounds like this one won't need zimmerit . I'll also pick up the StuG III Squadron book at my LHS soon.
