Hi All, I am looking at trying to build a KV 85, I have heard that the EE kit is rather average in a lots of areas so was planning on using a Trumpter hull & DML JS1 turret, are their any issues with either of these that need to be fixed to make an accurate model. Would using the royal models set for the kv85 help?? Can the Trumpter KV2 donor kit be used or must the KV1 be used??

Mike,
The DML JS-1 turret is incorrect for a JS-1, which means it's wrong for a KV-85. The EE turret is the best around in plastic or resin, so that limit's your choice there. Ypu are going to need to modify the upper hull of your KV kit, no matter what you do. I'd say wait a little onger as Trumpeter has just released their KV-8. With some luck the KV-1S, SU-152 & KV-85 will not be far behind. For more info, go to Neil Stokes' site 4BO green . Good luck and Merry Christmas!
Regards,
Georg

You'll need to stick with the EE kit for the time being as the KV-85 is based on the KV-1S and EE's is the only game in town for now. To be honest. the kit is quite good, I can't speak for the turret,, it's probably OK but with a bit of extra work the kit is pretty accurate. You should get the usual mod cons (PE, Barrel, Fruil tracks) but I really enjoyed building my -1S (and I didn't even bother with PE).
