Any news from Trumpeter on the M1083, or has this release evaporated?

Hi there,
the last I heard about the M1083 FMTV series on this years Nuremberg show was: "They are in tooling." It`s obviously more lucrative for Trumpeter to release another Krupp-Ardelt Waffenträger or a Neubaufahrzeug. Or maybe the sales for
the M1078 kit, priced in Germany for 43 Euros, weren`t too convincing.
I really hope that Trumpeter will release their FMTV and MTVR kits real soon.

Hi there,
in Germany we have the proverb "Papier ist geduldig", translates paper is patient.
As long as don`t see a boxart, It`s still an announcement.

Hi Frenchy,
Have you noticed the "New 2012-2013" sticker. I bet it will be more 2013 than 2012.

Those same catalog pics are in an old catalog that I have.. they just keep carrying them over from on catalog to the next.... I'm not sure what the problem is with these kits. Even GAOYUE stopped coming on the site and showing us teasers of what was coming... something went wrong somewhere

I've noticed it "Good things come to those who wait"...for a very long time ! Like AFV Club's M42 Duster.

You are right regarding Gaoyue. And same for Jackson Xiao.
Well maybe they realize that WWII was more lucrative than modern vehicle.
They didnot jump onto the MRAP race. They complete all the strykers variant beating Afv, so I don't understand.

Salut Sebastian,
I think that Trumpeter made the mistake and selling the M1078 kit too expensive,
around 45€. This might have dropped the sales rates. I also think that the FMTV series of truck are not that attractive to the common modeller because they have less media coverage. Speaking of MRAP`s Trumpeter asked me for pictures of the Caiman two years ago. But I really can`t look inside their minds.

Excactly....and the kit wasn't that great either. I managed to score one off Amazon for $35-39 with free shipping. Going to be mated up with the Pro Art Stuff to make it into a SF Warpig...thats gonna cost a pretty penny!

I had a 50% off coupon for Hobby Lobby, and that's the only reason I have one, LOL

M1087 Expando Van usually used as a Tactical Operations Center (TOC) at HQ units.

Thanks Gino! Guess the armored cab is standard IED protection for TOC as well. Interesting

RGR, that is why I said, "usually used as a Tactical Operations Center (TOC) at HQ units."
There are many uses for them, but an Ops Center or HQ TOC is the most common.
The Armored Cab is becoming standard across the board. The resoning is why by a truck without it then not be able to deploy it to a combat zone. You would have to buy two fleets of trucks; one armored and one unarmored. Its not cost effective.

I`m glad i`m not the only one who thought i want one of those - then got stopped cold by the price !.
It seems my fears were realised now that it`s been slated by fellow modellers,i`d have been really hacked off if i`d bought it to find out how bad it is !!

The M1078 is not bad at all. It has a few minor issues, but overall is very nice.
It is not that expensive if you get it from overseas (Asian) suppliers either, around $45 plus shipping. The price is about right if you ask me.

I got lucky and snagged the 1078 for $20.00 on clearance at Hobby Lobby. I'd really like the 1083. I drove along side one on a flatbed most of the way home from work last week. I will also look overseas for a purchase based on proposed price and the loss of all local hobby stores.
