Can anybody summarize just what's in the Trumpeter zimmerit tools (which also appear to be repackaged by Modelkasten)? I've got the Lion Roar zimmerit tools, but somewhere along the line the screw for holding the wheels went AWOL. I also wasn't totally happy with the pattern it gave for waffle pattern, which seemed to lack the borders between "waffles". One of the Trumpeter tools *looks* to be square, so I'm assuming it's for waffle pattern, but does it produce "proper" waffles?

My other alternatives are to pick up the set of MiG waffle stamps (I'm doing a StuH 42, so the set is appropriate) which is reasonably priced, or just to buy the appropriate Atak set and use their included stamp to deal with difficulties.

I think the ideal solution would be if the Trumpeter tools included a "good" waffle stamp - then I'd get roller wheels and stamps for more common zimmerit patterns and I'd be able to waffle my StuG. However, getting the StuH looking good is my primary aim, so going with a vehicle-specific set like the MiG parts is a close second. I guess the ideal solution would be the Atak 35010 set *and* the MiG stamps, but I've not got the money to spare.

Help?

Thanks,

Al

I have the same tool from Lion Roar that you speak of, but I prefer one I've had for about 10 years when it comes to doing the waffle pattern. I'm not sure whether they can still be found. The one I have is in the first of two sets of zimmerit pattern tools (Late War, and Early War) from Remedy Models called Zimmer-It.
The waffle tool is one of 6 in the late war set. It is different from the LR tool 'cause it is square, rather than rectangular like the LR offering.
Like I said, I'm not sure you'll be able to find them, but the address on the label has Remedy Models at 3666 Pacific Coast Hwy in Waldport, Oregon.
Set One has the waffle stamp, the Panther G wide and narrow trowel pattern tools (2), and the Panther G standard, Large and Small tools. (2)
I can't believe I still have the tag off the bag they came in after all these years.
Maybe I ought to finish the StuG III that's been sitting half done for all these years.

I also looked at the Trumpeter tools a little while ago, but I can't say I looked all that closely at them while I was at it, so I can't help you there. I recall it came with a few handles and all the parts were red plastic, on sprues. Sort of like plastic copies of the LR or AFV Club ones.
