What do you think?
I think I want one of these in 1/35 and plastic!!!!
Sorry couldn´t help myself when I saw the thread. Nice looking model ... how was it to build? Is the running gear and tracks all moulded in one piece? Make sure you clean out all the flash between the wheels and tracks .... visible in the latest set of photos.

Hi Alex
I don't know anything about that early Panzer III except that I like it.
If there was a plastic kit of it I'd get one
cheers
Neil

@ Frank: correct. The running gear is one piece. You have only 5-6 Parts to build. But the flash is very difficult to clean because you destroy the track teeth. I will place the Tank in a small dio with mud. Over all it was a easy and fast build.
In Plastic not yet, but i know it will a resin model in 1/35.
Resin Panzer III A
@ Neil: only 10 of this type are built. In early 1940 they were retired an get driving school tanks. But i don´t tink there will be ever a plastic kit produced, so you must still take this resin copy.

The Three A was designed to have the 5cm gun, but the Germans thought it would be more efficient to synchronize supply with the PAK 36 3.7cm ammo, so the tank was fatally under-armed from the start. We all know what happened once the Wehrmacht's armor ran up against the T-34....

Nice start Alex .... such a cool little model. Have you any further plans for adding figures and/or a base?

@Woschti – Alex,
Other than what Frank aka ‘Plasticbattle’ pointed out about flash on the running gear this is a very well detailed replica of the Panzer III Ausf.A. I like the improvements that you added such as the handles, MG’s and main gun barrel to the kit. Looking good so far with the base coat of paint. Waiting to see more.
Happy Holidays,
~ Eddy

Good morning from germany,
and thanks for your comments.
@Alex: i use Tamyia german grey XF-63 with ca. 5% white.
@Frank: I think about a small vignette poland september 1939. Only one figure in the turret.
@Tim: the decal will be wihte cross and perhaps markings from one of the two units who have see combat with this tank. 1. and 5. panzerregiment i think.
Next step is a new small coat of panzergrey and then i go to finish it.

Alex,
Very interesting subject and after having built my first resin model last year, I know how difficult the clean up can be. The added metal parts really bring it to life.
Cheers,
Jan

Hello @ all,
a long time ago there was a model.
Small paint step. Cover with Johnson Klear, MiG Washes and minitracks decals. Unfortunately, Micro Set has gone through the model. But it will a fast clean.
Cheers,
Alex

after few months the finish line will be come.
I add in a couple of days some figures painted by a good friend from me on this vignette.
The last step will be the antenna.
Feel free to coment.

@Woschti – Alex,
Long time no see! You’ve done a very good job with the paint fading and weathering. I like how you’ve faded the national insignia and turret numbers and how the base color comes through them, very realistic in this scale. I’m a little confused with the olive green tarp over the turret, what’s that about? The vehicle looks at home on the base, nice ground work too.
I do have a few suggestions to make. The tan colored dusting looks really good and not overdone for a vehicle in the field, but you could break some of that color up a bit by adding some dark browns to some areas on the running gear only, sort of like creating the effect of wet to dry mud (keep the browns near the center of the road wheels and not on the rubber portion). Another thing you could think about doing would be to grind some artist charcoal drawing stick against sand paper and dip the pointed end of a cotton cosmetic applicator (or pinch the end of a cotton swab) into the charcoal dust and carefully rub that onto the contact surfaces of the tires on the road wheels – keep that away from the sides of the tires. And lastly rub the outer contact areas of the tracks with a silver artist pencil.
Looking forward to seeing you add those figures your friend painted for you to the scene.

Hello and thanks for your comments.
The carpet must replace a broken part at the commander coupola. It will be lost during the finish of this tank. The model goes this week to an exhibition and I had to find a quick solution.
The idea with the dry mud pigments over the running gear and rubber paint for the road wheels i will do. Thanks for this.
Cheers

Looks good Alex. As other people on the thread have already stated, I sure do wish someone would come out with this kit in 1/35 or 1/48 plastic (along with a B or C model).

Alex, I like it, and with the casual looking figures. Wonder what the show judges will make of the tarp over the hatch... just wondering if it would have been good to at least scratch a replacement hatch half in order to make the tarp stand out evenly.
Maybe I shouldn't have said that...
("I wish it was available in 1/35"... tut tut, you guys. You know that's not allowed.)

@Woschti – Alex,
Now that looks good! And as Matthew ‘firstcircle’ Lenton, mentions about the figures they are rather casual in their stance but provide both a sense of action and scale. Hoping you much success at the exhibition.

Very nice Alex. The model has changed a lot with the weathering.
Congrats. Pedro.
