This is what I use. Got to any craft store and get you some instant rust. You can control the color of the rust from a light rusty yellow to the darkest rust you can think of. The trick is the thin the iron solution with alcohol the brush it very lightly on it let it dry for about 24-48 hours. the longer you let it dry the darker the rust will be. works real good, I ahven't had any problem with it at all.

Tin Bitz from Games Workshop....Yeah I know it's a crazy name but it works like a dream. It's acrylic as well. Worth checking out their paint range (if you can get your head round paint names like Goblin Vomit and similar colors).....Crazy name, sensible business strategies.. One point worth mentioning, if you are over 20 years of age send a younger person into the GW stores for you. I went into a couple during the summer and came out looking for a pair of carpet slippers and a zimmer frame.....Jim

I use humbrol 160 as a base and mix with revell 85 to get different collor shades. I prime the surface first with grey paint mixed with baking flower if I need a very rusted look. Finally weather a bit with black.

I have just recently started using RUSTALL with pretty good results. For years I used Testor's Leather as my base rust color.

Testors's leather, then washed with a darkish brownish black wash and then a light drybrush with a tannish dark earth.( Who says alchemy is dead?)

I start with a base coat of MM rust. I follow up with baking soda sprinkled on the wet paint. After this drys I use several coats of rust-all and black wash mixed 50 %.

I also use real rust to get the right effect.. I recently got the new MIG pigments, but had no chance to use them... Normally I'm gonna test them out on my new T-55...

I've had the instant iron and rust in my box for a long time, but never really used it. i tested it out on the gun sheild to a flak and it looks really good. i'm going to start using that. everyone else, thanks for the tips, i may be brave enough to try something else!

I paint my exhausts using any brown color then while the paint is still wet I take all different shades of pastels from black to bright orange I dab this onto the wet paint adding more paint if it dries too fast them work over the muffler till it looks just right ..try it ,it's fun (and messy!!) I love how my muffler came out on my hetzer now if the rest comes out as well I'll try and post some pictures next week some time ...
