Is the gun in this picture an early model 88mm?
The truck, I ordered off the internet. For those of you who saw my 88, she now has a companion (the truck).

If you look closely at the photo, Afrika Korps markings are on the nearside front wheel arch. This means that the photo was taken not much later than 1942. as far as being an 'early' 88, the '88 was put into production in 1937 and continued in production until the end of the war (probably with some modifications, albeit superficial). Therefore the '88 cannot be classified as early or late...it was the same system during the whole war... A field mounted '88 was produced with the L71 barrel later on which was much-simplified. It could be this you are thinking of? Jim

Hello Chip,
The 88 was up-dated troughout the war, but I have to agree with Jim. Sinds it's pre '42 it's probably sooner a model 18 than a 36. Looking at the barrel, it looks like an old Flak 18 type.
Regards, Hut

By also looking at the wheels, and wheel covers , I would say it is an early 88, probably an 18. :-)

Must be an early 88. So I will have to agree with you guys. My Tamiya 88 has two wheels
instead of one, and the fenders are way differant!

Yes the truck is an 8 tonner!
