Been some time since I last posted here...sorry.

Been playing around with some of the new AK products, mainly to test the Worn Effects ( chipping fluid)

The model is basically OOTB except for the metal barrel from JR.

I used the 4B) AK CM set for the base green and Tamiya flat white for the white wash. All the weathering and streaking has been done with the AK range of washes, filters and effects.

A full build blog can be found on my website and on my forum.

Still much more to do til it's done.

Cheers
Rob

Yeah it's been a few years eh. Having a blast with this one....but then it's back to more rusty stuff. I've got enough of them on the bench at the moment.

Great work..
but..

The slogan is a bit wrong, Did you use the decals from trumpeters KV kits? You should use the others too. You need the decals called "Бей",which means hit . Unfortunately just the two words you have alone dont make sence .

Yep...was pointed out after the weathering was applied. I was going to fix it but this would mess up the weathering and not match the other decals. So I decided to leave ...mainly because this a model I'm doing for fun and trying out the AK products. I will be sure not to make this mistake again. Thanks for pointing it out.

Hi Rob,

That’s a pretty impressive finish you have going on! I’ve heard a lot of talk about it at the other site, but this is the first time I have seen it. Looks fantastic!

You sure got a fantastic weathering job on your hands there Rob- I love the layers of weathering, they all come together very nicely. Great work.

Ditto the above comments. Did you use the salt technique on the white wash? I've tried hairspray, but was not too impressed. This thing looks like it's seen hell.

Thanks fellas, glad you like the dirty beast.

The white wash was done using the AK worn effects fluid. I think it's much easier to get these effects with the AK stuff than the HS. The HS is unpredictable and you rarely get the same results....unless your Mike Rinaldi ...aka master of the HS technique

This is beautiful, the 152's are great candidates for heavy weathering aren't they
I've heard a lot of people make similar comments regarding the AK products and I'm looking forward to finally getting a chance to try them myself.

Thanks Jeremy. yep these big beasts just cry to get weathered.

The AK products are very easy and forgiving, to use. I would normally be mixing oils for some of the effects but with the AK products I just grab the color I want and put it on, no mixing or try to remember what colors and ratio I used prior. I started the model on the 1st of Dec and the painting and weathering took a week to get it at this stage, and at only a couple of hours a day. I haven't done anything in the past few days.

Thanks DJ. Done some muck and mud to the big girl.

A full SBS on how I did the mud and muck can be seen at the link, too many pics to post here so here is a link to the SBS.

Hey John, thanks bro, glad you like it. I managed to get the wheels pretty much done. Still need to touch up the return rollers and the tracks.

Hoping to have this done by X-Mas

Amazing job, Rob! Been thinking about trying some of these AK stuff as well to finish off a project I have going.

Can you tell me what metallic medium you used for the contact portion of those wheels? They look really nice!

Thanks,

Rob

Thanks Matt and Rob.
Rob, the metal areas were done with the AK dark steel pigment. I just love that stuff. It has the right sheen to it and buffs really good.

Sorry about the pics being gone. You can follow the link to see them on my site or forum, they are still there.

I'm calling this one done now. I had done the last minute stuff not seen in the pics but basically it's done.

The MG has been painted and added to the model. I'll take final pics and post them. Thanks for following.
