Hi Folks, I am working on Tamiya's Challenger II Desertised kit and have gotten to the part about the fuel drums. How is the fuel transfered from the drums to the engine? Is there a pipe/hose system ? If so, where does it enter on the rear panel? Photos would be of great help !
Also the dust skirts that come of the track armour are canvas (i think) but are they a buff colored material or were they painted the tank color? And, how did the desert paint hold up ? Will I have to do a lot of chipping / salt treatment?
Thanks a lot and may Santa bring you all lots of projects for 2012 !
Tom

The lower skirts were painted a lighter buff color than the tank.
The paint that was used was not very good and did peal, chip, rub off pretty badly.
I don't think the fuel drums are plumbed to feed the fuel system on the tank. I believe they are used like jerry cans to carry extra fuel which is then pumped into the fuel cells on the tank.

Thanks Rick & Gino for your quick responses and photos ! Mostly my build is out of the box with a couple of tweaks here and there. My reference material is only an old ( 2004) but excellent "Military In Scale" magazine. It has 3 different builds and a 1to1 scale walk around.
Thanks again guys ! Have a great holiday and may you receive the greatest gift of all, Bench time to build ! Tom

Somewhere along the line I've seen a picture of one of the drums in a raised position with fuel being fed by gravity into the fuel tanks.
