Late:

exhaust deflector
had armored shield for .30 cal
had rear storage box
had different grouser mounting on turret sides

There are also a number of other smaller differences in the two, many of which were not caught by AFV Club in their kit. If the larger differences are what you were looking for, fair enough. If you want the small differences, you can look at my build review of the M5A1 on the AMPS Website.

A couple of late M5A1 nuances that didn't make it into the review are:
- there is a small inverted "U" shaped bump stop welded on the top of the rear idler housings
- There is a horizontal brace over the siren on the left-side brush guard that is bolted back to the glacis
- On most late M5A1s position of the small lock hasp on teh left turret hatch was further to the outboard side and the small square (2" x 2") bolted plate immediately in front of the left corner of the hatch was deleted.

The reveiw also points out some problems with the AFV Club kit if you are thinking of building it.
