Peter Ganchev reviews Dragon''s interesting release of the Heavy Uniform Personnel Vehicle Type 40 + 2cm FlaK 38. Another nice thing for 1/72 modelers with the WW2 addiction.

Peter,

I just built one of these Horchs and I want to warn everyone that the suspension was, to put it mildly, frustrating. You also hit the nail on the head about the lack of interior side detail, especially for an open topped vehicle. Also, the rear has no interior detail even though there are two doors there.

The FlaK 38 looks promising and I hope that they engineered it so it goes together okay. I've built the Maco FlaK 43 and the Dragon trailer looks very nice compared to it. However, from what I can see in your pictures, there isn't a towing ring on it.

Overall you made some good observations.

Cheers,
Jan

And no word the rear is totally WRONG. Pity, this glaring error was discussed in all forums even before the first Horch kit advent, from the times "Combat Ready" model was launched.

Hey Jan,

Many thanks for your kind comments. I hope I am talking about the same thing - you can see the towing attachment for the trailer in the lower left corner of picture 11 in the review.

Thanks for the suspension warning. I am studying the instructions and the images I have of the real vehicle and so far DML's engineering looks OK to me. Guess I will find out later today, as I will be building the kit for a review (time for some OOB, finally).

Always nice to see reviews of small scale subjects. That little flak looks very interesting.

AJ
