Thanks Paul or the picture of the reservoir

By the way is that a hydraulic line running from the tank at the lower left corner into the engine firewall? It's hard to tell from the shadows. If so, would there be just one line or more?

Thanks for your help

Cheers

You are correct. there would be two hydraulic lines one supply and one return. Don't forget the crew heater is in the same space.

paul,
did all dozer tracks have that tank? or was it just for the SEV. i don't remember it but then again it was a long time ago.
also i remember we got our A2 dozers (3 of them) in '88.

They all had it it. The photo above was taken of a 1CER M113 dozer in 1983 well before the upgrade to the SEV package.

I have noticed now on two images of Canadian M113 dozers a difference on the rear end from a standard M113A1. It almost looks like this rear end on the M113A1 dozer in the image is the same as the extensions on the M113A1 ARVL.

Can anyone confirm if this was some kind of additional modification?

There's also some images of some early version Canadian Cougars on that link....they look brand new in 1978 and one of them has the main gun removed.

I don't know if this was factory or local modification, but all the dozers had it. The rear fenders were modified to include a rack that held two jerry cans each . I suspect it was due to the reduction in internal stowage due to the hydraulic tank.

The M113A2 SEV (Special Equipment Vehicle) is an Engineer vehicle but far more equipped than just a regular M113 dozer. It would take alot more scratchbuilding to create the SEV version.

Interesting '113 mod. It would be worth putting on the build list. U.S. Army didn't have blades on 113s as far as I know (M728, M60, yes; M113, no). And we never used a blade to level out a place for the 577. I don' recall seeing our engineer APC's with augers either (lots of boxes and equipment though)
