I almost hate to ask this, but is anyone familiar with the Revell GI Joe Battle Tank model kit? I saw one sitting in a hobby store today and I was wondering, was it based on the MBT70? The pictures on the box were not very good and ther is no scale listed other than 11.5 inches long. Many of the old GI Joe toys were based (sometimes loosely) on actual prototype military vehicles. I had no idea until today that anyone made models of vehicles that only existed as toys. If it is based on the MBT70 and is around 1/35th scale, I'm going back to get it.
Not holding my breath though...

unless they re-issued it, that model tank is probably a collector's item. I built one back when I was young enough to be watching GI Joe toons and not yet knowing that knowing was half the battle. Scale wise, I remember thinking 1/32, but as its a whif, you could say its 35th. Parts count seemed kinda light, iirc it might have been a snap together?
I'd like to get my hands on one too, have some fun with it!

Thanks for the link to the "compendium" pdf. Fun to read.
They also made a kit of the "Vamp" jeep and the "Rapid Fire Motorcycle". They show up on eBay from time to time.

Thanks guys. Good to know I wasn't off base thinking it looked like an MBT-70. Probably as close as we will ever get to one in 1/35th scale plastic.
After thinking about it through the night, I went back and bought it. We will see what I do with it.
