Hi, I've been looking around but I've found very little on the camouflage used in Caen, specifically by the 12th and/or 9th SS Panzer divisions (or others) fighting in the area.
I know about the "ambush" camo patterns, but that's about it, if anybody could help or point me in the direction of information then thanks!
I'm in the process of building for a Caen diorama as you can probably tell, I look forward to spending more time here!

Hi JC,
I can't help you with off the top of my head with the specific unit cammo questions and markings questions. However, Panther camouflage in general is covered pretty effectively here:
PantherL El Mitos:: Esquemas de Camuflaje
Here's an authorized English translation: English Translation of El Mitos Panther Cammo Article
Both website have more Panther info. I highly recommend the Panther, el Mitos site. Tons and tons of very useful information there. Google translate will get you through the language issues if you're not a Spanish speaker.
BTW: The ambush patterns were applied by the factories much too late to have appeared in the Summer of '44 battles, so their use on a Caen Panther would be very anachronistic.

JC,
If you're looking for a Panther for Normandy, Dragon's Panther G with Zimmerit has a scheme for 9SS. Not sure of the time period, but it is a generic yellow/green/brown scheme.

Thank you very much for this! I had already found quite a thread somewhere with many Panther camouflage scheems, however none of these had ben included. I think I might stick with this camo, thanks!

Thanks for the heads up, I don't need another Panther kit (Though the zimmerit would be helpful!) I've had a look, but I'm not sure if I've found the scheme you're describing here though.
