British Airfix will make Coyote and Jackal in plastic. It was a good news. But the bad news, those models will be in 48 scale.-(((

why is that bad news? 48th is usually more affordable, and strikes a good balance of detail and size
I for one am relishing airfix for realeasing these, and the landrovers .

The 48 scale are more aircraft's scale than AFV. I beleive that those models in 35 scale could be more demanded.

1/35 would be preferable alright but these two are good enough reason for me to dabble in 1/48...and as soon as I get them someine will anounce then in the real AFV scale
I've got 2 of the HB Landies in 1/35 but no doubt will get the Airfix 1/48's also....

I'll be getting these - painting MTP in 48 will be interesting.

The photos look great and all the pieces appear straight and true. I'd be interested in buying one!

I believe these are (and the other figure and Landrover sets) aimed more at the schoolkid set to play/wargame with than the serious modeller although Airfix appear to have compromised with these and offered PE updates too.
Apparently most of Airfix's sales are aimed at the young market with some success which is good to see.
As these appear CAD produced tooling then I hope they will offer 35th for the serious modeller

That isn't really bad news. If sales are encouraging perhaps they will also be released in 1:35

Hi Al,
I had the chance to look over the pre-release at IPMS Telford, the detail is actually very good, and there are details included on the Snatch Land Rover not seen on the Hobby Boss kits. I too was disapointed on the choice of scale but given that there are a couple of stunning 1/48 helecopters coming it's no surprise that they are 1/48.
Regards

I thought it curious they are marketed under the "Afghanistan" range. There's also some grape huts in 48th and a new Westland Lynx in 48th too. With the buildings and the figs, its seem like Airfix is making it easier for the diorama guys.
Detail does look pretty nice!
I wonder if JTF-2 ever went forward with buying these vehicles?

Having seen these in the flesh I can confirm (based on the test models at least) these are very good. I personally really don't like 1/48 as a scale other than for aircraft, but I'll certainly buy these.
The 1/48 Merlin and Lynx as well have to be seen to be believed, nothing like airfix of old at all, the Merlin looked absolutely brilliant.

I build aircraft in 1/32 and 1/48.
Although currently I only build Armour kits in 1/35 this will definitely make me foray into 1/48 "Armour" kits to go along with the choppers.
Nice one Airfix! Now how 'bout some in 1/35th too?

So when does Airfix plan to release this?
And would the crews and PE be included with the kit, or are they separate buys?

I'm glad there's even some weapons and gear that don't look too shabby. It would be nice to do a scene with one of those choppers wired overhead. Airfix is almost taking it a step beyond Miniart, having a line of buildings, figures, vehicles, PE, annnd aircraft. I can't wait to see what people can make with these.
