Hi Tim .. its a good question but not one which would happen .. the ISU 152 weights in at a nice 47 tons and the T34/85 is a light weight compared to the ISu with a weight of only 26 tons ..those are not exact by the way ... now the problems ..dew to the weight difference the T34 would have a problem getting is weight to the ground ..grip .. but that all depends on where the ISU is ,,on hard ground or soft ,that all depends on what the gear box and engine have to do to get the beast to move .
On hard ground and if the T34 can get any grip it would tow a ISU .its just getting it to move but with the gear box out of gear i can't see why it wouldn't tow it ,,hell i have seen a US WWII truck towing a M4 easy eight sherman tank at Bovington tank museum so i know it can be done , but on soft ground ..oh that could be a very different story .
All the yrs i have worked on earthmovers i have never seen an engine catch fire from pulling very heavy items ..i have seen broken cranks, push rods punched through the sides of engine blocks and many blown gearboxes and clutches .
If a T34 did try to tow a ISU it would probably blow the gear box and shred the gear gear teeth and clutch but not make the engine catch fire .that would only happen if there was a change in oil pressure thru an oil line and that burst ,hot exhaust and oil ,ya that burns but when that happens most of the time you get a huge amount of smoke and not much else but like i said i have never seen it happen before and we've used bull dozers to move some damn big things at times and yes i have seen engines die and gear boxes too but never had a worry about fires .now a anti tank round hitting the engine compartment will do a nice job
Hope this has helped ya mate ..

Phill

The German soldiers tries to tow a damaged KV-1 tank, using captured T-34 tank.
From these images are not clearly seen, had they achieved success or have not achieved.

No. KV-1 has short gun barrel (unlike this on modern tanks). So, KV gun barrel is not an obstacle during towing.
I think, this KV turret is turned to side due to battle damage.
